A small airstrip is located on one end of the beach. 2)There is a small and intimate Plaza de Toros, located outside the main city of Porlamar for watching bullfights. The occasional spectacle is well advertised throughout the island. 3) Duty free shopping. Excellent bargains on quality clothes of all kinds. ACCESS TO BEACH: Roadside parking the full length of the beach. Cabs a-plenty so you'll never be stranded and good road signs if you are driving. There is a walkway along the entire expanse of beach. QUALITY OF BEACH: One of the longest stretches of sand in the Caribbean. And though the sand is packed down in some areas, the grain is fine but perhaps a bit dusty and often burning hot to the toes. Wear sandals. The water is normally quite rough, yet oddly quite shallow near the beach. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Likely the most vendors per square inch you will ever see and pitches range from fresh coconuts to time share units; fortunately they are more friendly than pushy and many vendors do stock necessary items like sunglasses and sunscreen. The entire area is filled with beach chairs and umbrellas and the nearest restaurant in the never-ending line will willingly bring drinks and complete meals to your place in the sun. Or shade. The restaurants rent umbrellas and sunshades.
